Formula, PPI, and examples

How to convert pixels to centimetres

Centimetres = pixels ÷ PPI × 2.54.

At 300 PPI, 1000 px ÷ 300 × 2.54 = 8.466667 cm. A 3000 × 2000 px image is 25.4 × 16.933333 cm.

Pixels have no single physical size: changing PPI changes the centimetre result without changing the pixel count.

For CSS layout only, the reference-unit rule is 96 CSS px = 1 in = 2.54 cm. That convention does not measure a device pixel or set an image's print size.
