This deterministic example is also loaded by the calculator’s pixels-to-print mode. It separates exact rational arithmetic from rounded display and keeps the chosen 300 PPI visible as an assumption.
Width is exactly ten inches
Divide 3000 pixels by 300 pixels per inch. The units cancel to 10 inches exactly. Multiplying 10 inches by the defined 2.54 centimetres per inch gives exactly 25.4 centimetres or 254 millimetres.
Height is a repeating rational
Divide 2000 by 300 and reduce to 20/3 inches. Its decimal expansion is 6.666…, so DpiCalc displays approximately 6.666667 inches. Metric conversion still starts from 20/3, producing 16.933333… centimetres rather than multiplying a previously rounded display.
The source contains six megapixels
3000 × 2000 equals 6,000,000 pixels, or exactly 6 MP under the decimal megapixel convention. That count is independent of the chosen print PPI; changing PPI changes physical size, not the number of source pixels.
The result is arithmetic, not approval
The calculation proves the source density at the selected size. It does not certify sharpness, crop, bleed, colour, printer setup, paper, or viewing distance. Confirm those requirements separately before using the dimensions for production.
